Business Development: Setting Your Sights on 2013
The holiday season is in full swing, and 2013 is close behind. Do you have a strategic business plan in place for the new year? Do you even have a meeting scheduled in January?

Here are some ways to beat the urge to procrastinate.
1. Stop complacency.
Things may be going well for you now, but what does the future hold? Perhaps your competitors are a step ahead of you, mapping out ways to steal your clients and gain market share. Tell yourself - over and over. Tell yourself that if you don't step up your game, you could find out the hard way that your firms is vulnerable to others who plan and execute better than you.
Think about what you want to do in life, and who you want to be. Many firms miss their mark because their management team doesn't focus enough on individual objectives beyond the company's goals. If your people are not clear on who they want to be and what motivates them to contribute, the results will suffer and you will likely wander off course.
If you don't start prioritizing strategic planning you will forever be letting the firm run you. The sooner you make your strategy and alignment a priority, the sooner you'll achieve goals effectively. Drive the process by:
- Planning retreat in the new year.
